Tony Gwynn Cal Ripken Jr. and Mark McGwire ruled the baseball world for much of their respective careers. Gwynn spent his entire career 20 years with the San Diego Padres cracking 3141 hits on the way to a .338 lifetime batting average. Ripken compiled 3184 hits 431 home runs and broke Lou Gehrig's record of most consecutive games played (2131) in MLB history. Mark McGwire won the Rookie of the Year Award and smacked 49 home runs in 1987 kicking off a career in which he hit a total of 583 home runs including an amazing record-breaking 70 blasts in 1998.
